I missed the detail that these weren’t 73LPX chains which is what I usually run. Though in the end it may have been a good thing as they survived encounters with nails better than a full chisel chain.
The chain keeper really is a brilliant piece of kit. Especially for the long chains/bars.
I would recommend buying a couple when you have multiple combinations.
Defo my pic of chain the last few times I’ve added to my chains., holds the sharpness for longer than another other chain this isoze I have used
No fuss, super fast delivery.
Never go anywhere else.
Have had this for a while and works really well with the 65 sanding head, highly recommend. Fast deliver outstanding service as usual, get er bought guys
Needed this to cope with a chain that had 137 rather than 136 links, this takes up the slack nicely
Can’t review the bar, it didn’t fit, but I emailed twice about exchange process and no response…
I’m using this instead of a spur sprocket on my processor the man was very helpful in suggesting this Many thanks
Bought this to help oiling and reduce stress on Lo-Pro chains and bars. First impression was where are the instructions? There are (poor) instructions for the eco-oiler part of this package, but nothing at all for the panther conversion kit. Despite lengthy messaging with staff, there were no instructions. The main claim seems to be the magnet makes it easier to take oiler on and off, but that is a non-problem as the standard fitting simply slots into the vertical pillar. Fitting on the pillar was acknowledged by staff as giving better oil flow. Mounting on the magnet puts the oiler tank right above the bar, meaning the hose is often coiled up, needs messy priming and is basically a mess. One fitting video tells you to mount the oiler bolt upside down on the bar, yet in the video the bolt is on the top. Fitting the bolt on the underside of the bar means the hose is vulnerable to damage when you put the mill down. Instructions for driling hole in bar are poor (no paper instructions, just told to watch a video that doesn’t explain things well). The oiler cap is poor quality and to be honest the whole kit is very crappy build quality -the cap keep s slipping for example. Buy a cheapo oiler tank for a tenner, it will probably be a better quality. Having a secondary oiler can really help, but this kit is overpriced and poorly thought through
Note that the pre-drilled oiler holes only allow oil to be dripped onto the chain, not delivered directly to the chain groove, which is far less efficient method. Double check whether you need the predrilled holes
The main advantage is stated as being the fact you don’t need a tool to fit the oiler. If you just use the standard oiler fitment then that simply fits into the vertical pillar and there is no tool needed. The magnet holds the oiler tank on place on the rail, but why do you want to put the oiler tank on the rail?? As stated, it tends to shake use as the T nuts simply don’t fix it in place -hence the advice to use Loktite otherwise the magnet undoes and the oiler falls on the chain. Not good. The main problem is that if you sit the oiler tank on the magnet on the rail then the oiler is often very close to the bar and the hose coils up and the oil flow is reduced and there is far more risk that the hose will hit the chain. Basically this is a mod that is simply not needed. It is a complete waste of your money.
Not bad for price. Instruction are really hard to get your head around but there is serval vids out there. Careful when you attach the cross sections that holds the gap measure bars as they snap really easily. Luckily, it came with 3 so wasn’t a major concern.
Today I fitted the Makita T2-198259-2 Carving Spur Sprocket 1/4 x9 tooth and the 3670-71PM3 Stihl Micro Chisel 1/4 .043[1.1mm] Chain.
I have to say that with both these fitted, my Makita DUC150Z Pruning Saw is like a totally different machine. The original sprocket and chain gave a very harsh start to the cut, whereas the new setup cuts much more smoothly.
Well worth the purchase.
Five star service from the guys at chainsaw bars.very knowledgeable and friendly I will definitely be using then from now on for all my future chains.
good quality lo pro full skip ripping chain. cuts fast and leaves a brilliant finish if you keep it sharp. prone to snapping perhaps more often than other chains…i have snapped a few of these now. maybe its user error or a weak chain, i’m inclined to think it’s a mix of the two. other than that tidy chain!
